Court cases in Ohio, cost tax payers $42,000 per hour! $42,000 per hour! I repeat. Court cases in Ohio cost tax payers $42,000 per hour. It cost Ohio tax payers $7,000 per minute!
That is what it cost in 2008, according to one of the only studies we could find, that studied the cost of court cases in Ohio. The study was conducted by the Ohio Justice and Policy Center.
The Ohio Justice & Policy Center (OJPC) is a non-profit law office that works for productive reform of Ohio’s criminal justice system. Through collaboration, research, community education,
and litigation, OJPC advocates for a smart-on-crime, evidence-based approach to criminal justice. If in 2008, it cost $42,000 dollars per hour in Hamilton county courts, I womder how much it costs in 16 years later in 2024? I would guess court cost may be at least $60,000 or more per hour. How much would you say?
Now think about when Covid first and the world was shut down. Non violent Inmates were being releaed and the government was shut down. Why? Because non violent offenders were put at a higher risk level of harm and possible health risk including death, non violent offenders were released because they posed no risk to the public. Then why the hell are we locking them up?
Prisons and jails are for people who intentionally cause physical harm to others. I thinks it’s beyond time to for court reform and government reform. Tax payers are being robbed and nonviolent inmates are not the ones who are doing it!
